Rick Santorum super PAC rejects donation from London firm

"We had spoken to one of the executives there who's an American citizen," he said. "But instead of sending the money himself, he sent it from the company."

The spokesman would not name the executive but the firm's website identifies its CEO, Chris Siepman, as an American based in London.

Under US law foreign companies, citizens and governments are banned from donating to national elections.

Last year the Supreme Court ruled that the ban would also apply to super PACs, the shadowy committees that are allowed to raise and spend unlimited amounts of money in political campaigns.

Super PACs supporting the main Republican contenders have been responsible for the most vicious attacks so far in this year's election.
