The Bible: God's Answers To Our Issues And Challenges (Part IV)

'His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.' - 2 Peter 1:3-4  (NIV)

We have been studying that the Bible is our 'Hope Chest'where we realise that God our Father and Creator, through His Son as well as the Apostles, Prophets and Priests continually confirms that He has our best interests at heart demonstrated by what He has done and is still doing on our behalf.

As Christians, we must know that our hope is an unshakable confidence in God, even when circumstances give us every reason to doubt Him.Hope in God is an essential part of our faith. When we hope in the Lord http://www.thrivingfamily.com/Family/Faith/2012/family-devotions/hope-hope-filled-relationship.aspx , then the ' Treasure of Promises ' we have in the Bible await us so we can live the Abundant Life that our Lord Jesus Christ promises us.

Enjoy God's 'Abundant Life' this week through the following promises when you need

(I)       PEACE OFMIND
'The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face towards you and give you peace.' - Numbers 6:24-26'You will keep in perfect peace Him whose mind is steadfast, because He trusts in you'. - Isaiah 26:3

'The fruit of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence for ever'. - Isaiah 32:17

'Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus'. -  Philippians 4:6,7

'For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline'. - 2 Timothy 1:7

(II)        TO SURRENDERTO GOD
'For this is what the high and lofty One says He who lives for ever, whose name is Holy: 'I live in a High and Holy place, but also with Him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite'. - Isaiah 57:15

Whether it is favourable or unfavourable, we will obey the LORD our God, to whom we are sending you, so that it will go well with us, for we will obey the LORD our God.' - Jeremiah 42:6

'Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls'.  -  Matthew 11:29

'Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and He will flee from you. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up'. - James 4:7,10

'Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility towards one another, because, 'God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.'  Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time'. - 1 Peter 5:5-6

(III)       PROMISES WHEN YOU FEEL ANGRY
'Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret it leads only to evil.' - Psalm 37:7-8

'A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly.' - Proverbs 14:29'A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control.' - Proverbs 29:11

'In your anger do not sin': Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry,' - Ephesians 4:26

'My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.' -  James 1:19-20

(IV)      PROMISES WHEN YOU FEEL GUILTY
'Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the LORD does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit' - Psalm 32:1-2

'And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life! Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.' - Romans 5:6-11

'Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous' - Romans 5:18,19

'Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who is He that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died more than that, who was raised to life is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.' - Romans 8:33-34

'Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.' - 2 Corinthians 7:10

(V)       PROMISES  WHEN  YOU FEEL JOYFUL
'You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand' - Psalm 16:11'Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise Him. Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to Him on the ten-stringed lyre. Sing to Him a new song; play skilfully, and shout for joy'.  - Psalm 33:1-3

'Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Know that the LORD is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the LORD is good and His love endures for ever; His faithfulness continues through all generations'. - Psalm 100

'The ransomed of the LORD will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away'. - Isaiah 55:11'Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!' - Philippians 4:4
