University of Ghana (UG) welcomes John A. Kufour foundation

Students of the University of Ghana have commended former president Kufuor for initiating the setting up of the Centre for Leadership, Governance and Development at the University.

The centre is part of the former president’s foundation which is to be launched today Tuesday September 20.

Former German President Horst Koehler will cut the sod for the start of work on the Centre and will later deliver an inaugural lecture on the topic “Walking the Tight rope: Balancing State, Market and Society,” at the great hall of the university of Ghana.

The ceremony will be chaired by the Vice chancellor of the University of Ghana Professor Ernest Aryeetey.

A separate event will also be held in Kumasi on Wednesday September 21 where the John A. Kufuor Presidential Library and Museum at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology is to be based.

The SRC president of the University of Ghana, Thiombiano Daniel – Lompo told Citi News that the students are looking forward to the event.

He said “it is a very laudable idea and what I would even admire is for all former Heads of State to emulate the steps of former President Kufour.

“It is a foundation that according to him is geared towards instilling the true spirit of leadership into the youth and for us, we are very proud that it is going to be launched on the University of Ghana campus.

“We are told that we would be sitting around to see how the SRC can be an integral part of the foundation since it is geared towards instilling leadership in the youth so certainly we are the target group that this foundation is looking at so definitely we have a pivotal role to play”
