Dr Abu Sakara, CPP Flagbearer The flag bearer of the Convention People’s Party, Dr Abu Sakara, has paid a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam, Dr Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharabutu, at his residence in Accra.
The visit was aimed at introducing himself as the 2012 presidential candidate of the CPP and also as son to the Chief Imam.
Dr Sakara called on the national Chief Imam to pray to the Almighty God for peaceful elections, come December 7.
“I am here to introduce myself to you as your son who has been elected to lead the Convention People’s Party and subsequently, lead the country come January 2013. I need your prayer as your son, that the Almighty God will continue to strengthen me, provide me with enough wisdom and courage to be able to do the work when I ascend the throne.”
At the Chief Imam’s residence, the CPP flag bearer was given a rousing welcome.
He presented daduma- a mat Muslims use to pray- to the Chief Imam, including some other items and made a humble appeal that he “the Chief Imam leads all Ghanaians to pray for peace ahead of the elections.”
For his part, the Chief Imam thanked Dr Sakara for the kind gesture, saying he has chosen the right path. He assured him that he and his elders would continue to pray for the CPP and the entire country to remain peaceful.”
The Chief Imam encouraged Dr Sakara to embark on a clean campaign, which he believed would enable him have the mandate of Ghanaians come December 7.
Dr Abu Sakara was accompanied by Abu Forgor, National Organiser for the CPP; Thomas Ntumy, National Campaign Manager for the CPP, among others.
