London 2012: public school Olympians

Millfield's outstanding swimming facilities led to 15 current and former pupils of the school competing at the recent British Championships. Disney-May secured his Olympic sport when he finished second in the 100m freestyle at the British Swimming Championships in a personal best time of 49.48 seconds.

Sir Chris Hoy - George Watson's College

Although he originally attended state run Stockbridge Primary School, Hoy completed his education at the prestigious George Watson's College, a public school in Edinburgh. The triple Olympic gold medal winning cyclist completed his education at St Andrews University.

Zara Philips - Gordonstoun

An accomplished athlete at Gordonstoun, Philips, born sixth in line to the throne, represented her school at hockey, athletics and gymnastics before concetrating on her equestrian career in which she formed a partnership with her horse Toytown.
