Woyome's lawyers contradict claims by first prosecution witness

Lead counsel for Alfred Agbesi Woyome, the businessman at the centre of the controversial GHS 51 million judgment debt saga, has produced evidence in court to challenge claims by the first prosecution witness that the Attorney-General's directive to the Finance Ministry to pay his client was not supported by any contract.

The lawyer advanced the argument during cross examination of Mangua Ghanney - a lawyer at the Finance Ministry who told the Commercial Division of the Fast Track High Court, Tuesday, that she received a letter from Mrs Betty Mould-Iddrisu directing the ministry to pay 22 million Euros to Woyome but added that the directive for payment came without a contract.

When the trial resumed Thursday morning, six different exhibits were produced in court by Mr. Woyome's lawyers as evidence to prove their client did not fraudulently claim the judgment debt payment, reported Joy FM's Sammy Darko, who was in court.
